Fashion Studies

Fashion Studies explores the role of clothing in society and its relation to art. The series includes commissioned work for the press, personal creations from Karolina and Virgile’s practice, and images produced during their Drawing Sesh online classes.

Demo Dema share a pictorial approach to fashion illustration. Both use paper as a space for experimentation, as demonstrated by their extensive use of mixed media—a combination of acrylic paint, ink, wax pastels, watercolours, coloured pencils, and cut-outs.

Fashion Studies also pays tribute to fashion and street photography, drawing inspiration from renowned photographers such as Malik Sidibé (1936-2016) and Vivian Maier (1926-2009), as well as contemporary painters like Amoako Boafo (b. 1984) and Njideka Akunyili-Crosby (b.1983).
