A ROOM FULL OF SIGNS, an exhibition by Karolina Dema & Virgile Demo

We’re glad to announce our upcoming drawing exhibition, "A ROOM FULL OF SIGNS," on November  21-22-23rd, 2024, at our art studio in Brussels.

A ROOM FULL OF SIGNS showcases more than 400 of our drawings created over the past 4 years. The show explores themes of collective memory in an age of mass media, and the role of drawing as a vessel for signs & images through time. By sign, we understand any image, text or number encountered daily whose meaning resonates with us, whether they summon a memory or a word/image association.

Notable series will be exhibited for the first time. Karolina’s “Birds Archives" and "Brink," highlight issues of loss and preservation in an age of mass extinction. Our collective project Paris 2024 reports on the athletic feats of the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games, and highlights media bias in the process.

A ROOM FULL OF SIGNS transforms our studio into a comprehensive archive of our artistic practice. All drawings are presented next to each other in a uniform A4 format, creating an immersive wall-to-wall experience for viewers. Each piece contributes to a larger narrative, inviting guests to engage with individual works while appreciating the greater story they tell collectively.

We welcome both in-person and virtual visitors on the 21-22-23 November. For arrangements, please contact us at info@demodema.com.
