Family Portraits

Family Portraits explores Demo Dema’s interest in the portrait as a space where loved ones come together, beyond time, distance or death. For Family Portraits, Karolina & Virgile represent their own families in a gallery of A4 drawings based on photos from different moments in time, thus bringing together an imaginary family reunion. The image of each family member is preserved within a single frame, creating when brought together  a rich tapestry of human connections.

Family Portraits seeks to engage viewers in a dialogue about their own family stories - the ways they come together despite their differences - and ultimately inspire them to explore and document their own narratives.
